SAVE THE DATE! Trauma and the Body-Mind Workshop @ The Transformation Festival

  • West Park Presbyterian Church (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Daniel Cook (LMHC) and myself will be leading an experiential workshop on Trauma and the Body at the Transformation festival this October.

Finding Choice in the Body-Mind: An Experiential Workshop

How do experiences of the past shape our relationship to the present?  How is memory encoded in our bodies?  Do body-based memories perpetuate reactivity rather than choice in our lives? In this experiential workshop we will explore the relationship of trauma in both mind and body.  Through neuroscientific research we will explore our inherent, biological defenses that become shaped by significant experiences and end up framing our "yes", "no", and "maybe's".   Movement, contemplative, and somatic oriented explorations will be offered to support nervous system regulation and the processing of significant memories.

Semi-Private Yoga classes

Tired of practicing yoga in large groups? Want more individualized attention? Want to slow down and find new, comfortable pathways in the body?

I am offering customized semi-private yoga classes (5-6 students max) in the Prospect Lefferts Gardens area in Brooklyn. The classes are designed for students to investigate and deepen their movement. Using yoga as the movement structure, we will  attend to pain, discomfort and injury in the body. By softening, getting still, and bringing our curiosity to the mat, we will  uncover habitual patterns that no longer serve and replace them with ones that promote ease and grace in the body-mind.

Classes are 9:30-10:30am. $15, bring your own mat. After the first class, students will be asked to commit to 4 class sessions. Location details will be sent upon registration, please email or call me.
